At Harris Steel Group, we fabricate, epoxy-coat and install reinforcing steel bar. We are also a premier supplier of high quality cold finished bar, cold drawn wire and welded wire mesh, as well as industrial steel grating, aluminum grating and expanded metal. These products and services are delivered through Harris Rebar, Laurel Steel and Fisher & Ludlow. We also participate in reinforcing steel distribution, through Harris Supply Solutions Inc. which procures and sells reinforcing steel to the residential and light commercial markets in the United States. Furthermore, our affiliate, Nucor Trading, participates in steel trading in both long and flat products on a worldwide basis. In a cyclical industry, we have a history of consistent profitability. Since our inception, we have continually honed our procurement capability. Our domestic and global steel market intelligence, purchasing volume and ability to leverage supplier relationships – combined with financial strength – enable us to take advantage of supply and demand fluctuations in the steel market.
In a just-in-time world, we are the critical link in our customers’ supply chain. Our financial flexibility allows us to maintain large inventories of the product our customers need, while our state-of-the-art inventory and order processing systems ensure efficient, flexible and responsive just-in-time delivery.
Harris Steel Group was founded in 1953 and currently employs more than 4,000 people across Canada and the United States, and in offices in Sri Lanka and India (rebar detailing) as well as Neuchatel, Switzerland (Nucor Trading). In March 2007, Harris Steel Group was acquired by Nucor Corporation in a friendly, all-cash transaction.
